About

365×4 is a daily log for the key events that are shaping our new reality. We are an independent node on the information blockchain, serving to authenticate this history as it is happening. 365×4 is a “memory project” for our futureselves so we don’t forget how we got there from today.

Why 365×4?

Oddly, there isn’t an official set number of days in a presidential term. And does Day 1 begin on Inauguration Day, or the next business day? Turning to Wikipedia offers little clarity:

The length of a full four-year term of office for a president of the United States usually amounts to 1,461 days (three common years of 365 days plus one leap year of 366 days). The listed number of days is calculated as the difference between dates, which counts the number of calendar days except the first day (day zero). If the first day were included, all numbers would be one day more, except Grover Cleveland would have two more days, as he served two non-consecutive terms.

That technically makes Inauguration Day “Day 0”, yet in societal references, it is almost always called Day 1.

But that Leap Day plus-one business? No thanks.

The thought of calling our website something like “1461days” or even worse, “2922days” for the time in office of two-term presidents such as Barack Obama and George W. Bush, sent us into a flaming panic. That many days is just overwhelming.

So 365×4.com is our compromise. We can deal with anything for a year, right? Then, just three more. Probably.
