Rubio served as a US senator from Florida from 2011-2025, after years in Florida state legislature as a representative for the 111th district, and as speaker of the Florida House. Rubio is also currently serving as Acting Director of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) since February 3, 2025, and as Acting Archivist of the United States where he oversees the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), after National Archivist Colleen Joy Shogan was dismissed on February 7, 2025.

Geek Notes

President Donald Trump’s first Executive Order — #14147 — ends with the numbers “47” — the same number as his presidential term. President Joe Biden’s final Executive Order — #14146 — ends with “46” — the same number as his presidential term. Given that EO 14146 is a minor semantics update to prior orders, this appears to be a geeky digital transfer of power, an Easter egg from the Biden Administration.
