Congress
The Senate confirmed Kristi Noem to serve as Secretary of Homeland Security in a 59-34 vote on Saturday. Noem served as governor of South Dakota from 2019-2025, representative for South Dakota’s at-large congressional district from 2011-2019, and 6th district house member from 2007-2011. She will oversee multiple agencies including the Coast Guard, Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Secret Service, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
