The Senate confirmed billionaire hedge fund manager and investor Scott Bessent to serve as Secretary of the Treasury in a 68-29 vote on Monday. He will advise on domestic and international financial, economic, and tax policies, and will oversee Medicare and Social Security funds, and US currency matters. Bessent is the highest-ranking LGBTQ official in the nation’s history.
